THANE: The citizens here especially those from the low income groups will no more have to spend huge amounts of money or rush to Mumbai to get treatment for heart related ailments, as a centre has been shared at a civic-run hospital here.
The Thane Municipal Corporation through PPP model started ‘Dharmaveer Anand Dighe heart ailment treatment centre,” at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa.
The centre was inaugurated by guardian minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday.
It is learnt that the city had no centre in any government hospital here wherein heart ailments could be treated.
“As we did not have the facility before we had to refer at least three to four patients every day from the city to Mumbai for heart related treatments. At this centre at CSM hospital one can undergo angioplasty, angiography, putting stent etc. The resolution against the centre was passed in 2018,” said Dr. Raju Murudkar, medical officer of health,
TMC.
It is learnt that while the treatment at the centre is free for people from low income groups, others can avail the facility at a discounted rate.
“People had to shell out huge amounts in order to just get treated for heart ailments as there was no such facility in a civic hospital in the city. This centre will help the people especially those in low income groups as the facility for them is free of charge,” said Dr. Bhimrao Jadhav, dean at CSM hospital.
